What Customers Say About Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion -- Revised & Expanded (Xbox360, PC) (Prima Official Game Guide):

Pretty book.I love the detailed maps and the actual walkthrough, ie "walk to the right of the door.etc"But it lacks the most important details: HOW to follow through something. The best way to defeat.etc. What the diseases are from zombies, how to cure themetcThe index isn't very helpful, when I look for specific items.I've beat this game before buying the strategy guide, so I'd say that for a beginner,This is not a great book.Overall, you get more information, that's specific from online gaming sites. Just google. It's free.

Its a big help when you get stuck , & helps you find stuff on the game that you other wised might have missed. Does not have expansion Shivering Isles in it though. The Knights of The Nine expansion is in it.

There is no overall map of the entire area. Granted, the material in this book is excellent, but expect to spend frustrating hours and hours trying to find what you need. This 368 page thick book has one page, ONE PAGE table of contents, with about 20 entries, and with no index. What I find so amazing is how so many reviewers can criticize the Fallout 3 guide for no index, when Fallout 3 has a 2 page table of context with around 400 entries, and yet so many reviewers gave this criminally disorganized book five stars. The existing organization also is horrendous. I wish Prima Games/Bethesda could explain to me how horses are a "Freeform Quest" In addition: The map section is horrendous and dark. Herd mentality I guess.

Was very good when first published, but I recommend getting the GOTY edition now (second printing) as it has all maps for the add-ons etc.

Especially helpful is an index, which allows you to quickly get help on some of the more obscure topics of Oblivion, such as the magical soul gems, buying houses, and owning horses. What I especially enjoyed about this book was how it gave you a little "behind the scenes" insight into the story, the characters, and the expansive land that is Cyrodiil. I would have returned the second copy but the retailer did not have another. Ah the World of Oblivion.Quite simply one of the most amazing games ever made, in my humble opinion. The game guide - well, it could be better.I had to return the first book - a series of pages were crimped and terribly misprinted. On occassions when I'd get a little trigger happy and skip some dialogue, I could usually go back to the book to pick up the part of story that I missed.Don't buy a shrink-wrapped copy. The text in many of the sidebar sections of the pages are horribly blurred - in some sections completely unintelligible - sections that of course pertain to the main storyline of the game.Aside from poor printing issues, the book contains an unbelievable amount of information. The book is huge. Leaf through it to make sure it's legible, then sit down and prepare to use a lot of spare time. Also, be sure to flip through the non-quest information towards the back of the book - there's some pretty neat stuff documented that without this book, most players probably wouldn't even know about.
